Merry Christmas!
Another year draws to a close… And we hope you have as many reasons to give thanks to God as we do. In October we sent out a prayer letter for the first time and we received such positive feedback that we decided to not only continue but expand “circulation” and translate it into English, too. Hopefully this Christmas letter is only the start! We would like to thank you for all your prayers, since we have been feeling especially blessed recently.

The biggest piece of news from the last few months is the response to a prayer request in our October letter: we found a house! Lord willing it will be ours at the end of this year or the beginning of 2007, at which point we can start the remodel it so badly needs (as you can see from the photo). Last week a little problem came up with the evaluation, but we have seen God’s hand in the timing of everything and how it has played out, so we are confident that He will continue to help us in this process. We also have a probable buyer for our apartment, as long as everything goes well with his bank. Vitor’s parents, as well as mine, have been and continue to be a fundamental part of our being able to make this big investment. We are awfully excited, and just a little nervous.
On the professional front, Vitor continues striving to be a positive influence in the lives of his seventh graders, especially the “homeroom” class he is responsible for, in spite of a general lack of interest, respect and other elements conducive to learning. Besides school, he continues to be involved in projects at the IBP, mainly public relations and the Imago-Dei magazine.
I am working already, although only part-time for now. I work at the Montepio Geral bank, in the Credit Risk Management Department. This might sound boring but is quite a challenge because we are trying to decipher and implement the brand-new international banking rules, and I always did like things nobody knew how to do! It is like a giant numbers puzzle. I am also finishing up my Economics degree and after exams in January I will be free and “degree-ed”.
Our church continues to be a source of lots of work and some really great moments, especially with the youth. Vitor is still running things, but his plate is pretty full with school and the IBP, too. You can pray that God sends more help, especially someone who could be part of the leadership on at least a half-time basis and also a teacher to help me with the 11-15 year-olds’ Sunday School (preferably a man, so the boys have someone who understand them!).
Prayer Requests
· Please pray for our house, that everything will work out so it can really actually be ours.

· Pray for wisdom for Vitor so that he can help his students to be truly successful.
· Pray for our ministry, inside our church and elsewhere.

Feliz Natal!
Mais um ano está a chegar ao fim… Esperamos que vocês tenham tantos motivos para dar graças a Deus como nós temos. Em Outubro mandamos pela primeira vez uma carta de oração a alguns amigos e familiares e obtivemos uma resposta tão positiva que decidimos não só continuar, mas expandir a lista, “publicando” também em inglês. Agradecemos as vossas orações, em resposta à última carta e não só, pois temos visto os resultados muito claramente na nossa vida.
Bênçãos e mais bênçãos…
A grande notícia dos últimos meses é a resposta a um pedido colocado na última carta: encontramos uma casa! Pela fé ela será nossa já no final deste ano ou no início de 2007, e podemos nessa altura começar as obras que ela tanto precisa (como podem ver ao lado). Os pais do Vítor, e os meus, foram e continuam a ser fundamentais em ajudar-nos a fazer este grande investimento. Surgiu na semana passada um percalço com a avaliação da casa, mas temos visto a mão de Deus em todo este processo e por isso confiamos que Ele vai continuar a ajudar-nos. Temos também pessoas interessadas no nosso apartamento, desde que tudo corra bem com os pedidos de crédito. Graças a Deus por tudo!
Em termos profissionais, o Vítor continua a lutar para ser uma influência positiva nas vidas dos alunos da turma do 7ºI na sua Escola, apesar de faltas de material, de comportamento e outros problemas. Para além da Escola, continua envolvido nos projectos do IBP, de relações públicas e na produção da revista Imago-Dei.
Eu já estou a trabalhar, apesar de a meio tempo ainda, na Direcção de Risco de Crédito do Montepio Geral. Embora o título possa parecer secante, o trabalho que estamos a fazer acaba por ser interessante pois neste momento estamos a tentar decifrar e por em prática as novas regras bancárias internacionais, e eu sempre gostei de coisas que não sabia fazer! É como se fosse um sudoku gigante. Estou também a acabar a faculdade, e a partir dos exames em Janeiro estarei livre e licenciada.
A igreja continua a dar trabalho e proporcionar momentos de alegria, especialmente com os jovens. O Vítor continua a dirigir o trabalho, mas está algo sobrecarregado com a escola e o IBP também. Por isso podem orar para mais colaboradores, especialmente alguém que possa estar na liderança a pelo menos meio tempo e mais um professor para colaborar comigo nos adolescentes (de preferência um homem, que os rapazes precisam de alguém que os compreende!).
Motivos de Oração
· Peça pela nossa casinha, que as últimas coisas se possam resolver, para podermos ficar mesmo com ela.
· Agradeça pelas respostas que já vimos às orações.
· Peça sabedoria para o Vítor poder ajudar os seus alunos a terem sucesso educativo.
· Ore pelo nosso ministério, na igreja e não só.
E nós vamos orar, para que possam todos ter uma época natalícia abençoada e cheia de amor!
